On the basis of the contracts we conclude with the enterprises using industrial packagings, we collect their used steel drums, plastic drums and IBCs from their premises with our pick-up-vehicles being in compliance with the standards of the Turkish Standards Institution and licensed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, by filling in the "National Waste Transportation Forms" as stipulated by the Ministry, and storing them properly in accordance with our License being under supervision of the Ministry, and recondition them for reusage.
Such National Waste Transportation Forms filled in as aforesaid are submitted to the relevant units of the Ministry in the annexes of the monthly issued Inventory Forms together with the procurement and sale invoices.
As Turkey's first licensed industrial packaging reconditioning facility since 1995, İzvar Ambalaj continues also today its investments in the field of reconditioning of industrial packaging and is the pioneer in this sector in Turkey by applying to all its reconditioning processes the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems as well as the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
Obtaining the expected economic and environmental benefit from the industrial packaging being used so widespread worldwide depends on holding under control of this sector to some certain extend and making reconditioning in compliance with applicable industrial standards. Any reconditioning sector acting with the traditional scrap dealer's mentality would be to the contrary an important factor causing environmental pollution. Therefore, in several industrialized and developed countries such as USA, Europe and Japan, the reconditioning of industrial packaging is allowed, pursuant to the legislation prevailing there, to be made exclusively by licensed or authorized enterprises having proper technical infrastructure in their premises and facilities as well as sufficient technology and qualified human resources. Moreover, all these enterprises and their facilities are acting as associates of national sectoral associations and unions that are joined under organization of international confederations and associations.
The common experience gained worldwide in reconditioning of industrial packaging shows that, due to environmental, economic and occupational safety requirements, the following three production techniques must in any case be applied for the industrial packaging reconditioning process.
How to recondition, its quality and applicable technologies
Regarding the used/empty industrial packaging in their premises, they must always act in compliance with the provisions of the respective Ordinance as introduced by the Ministry. They should cooperate with licensed enterprises having industrial packaging reconditioning facilities. That is the only way for them to be released from their responsibility for the industrial packaging they used/emptied and any wastes thereof. Otherwise, any responsibility for any damage incurred to the environment will be for their own account.
